HTG deploys Sentinel security solution for Nettitude

Posted by HTG

The client

Cybersecurity specialist Nettitude, an LRQA company and owned by Goldman Sachs, was founded in 2003, and is an award winning provider of cybersecurity services, bringing innovative thought leadership to the ever-evolving cybersecurity marketplace. Through its research and innovation centres, Nettitude provides threat-led services that span technical assurance, consulting and managed detection and response offerings.

It has unparalleled capability in delivering Security Operations Centre Services. Its reputation is built on a desire to build and deliver the best cybersecurity propositions in the industry and stay abreast of the evolving legislative and regulatory cybersecurity landscape, and with bases in the UK, USA, Singapore and Greece, its clients include those in finance, IT, engineering, maritime, offshore, retail, healthcare, manufacturing and critical national infrastructure.

The issue

Nettitude’s client base was increasingly keen to implement a cloud security product that offered the most flexible and sophisticated functionality, and the search was on to assess the market for a product which Nettitude could have the confidence to use within its own business and – crucially – that of its clients.

The right deployment partner was key to this critical project, and HTG met all of Nettitude’s stringent requirements, through its status as a Microsoft Gold and advanced specialist partner.

Microsoft Sentinel was identified as the logical choice to extend to the client base. This Microsoft cloud-native SIEM platform uses machine learning driven analytics, drawn from cloud and on-premise assets, to enable threat intelligence and threat hunting across an enterprise on the cornerstones of ‘collect, detect, investigate, respond’.

Having worked alongside Nettitude to deliver a successful cloud transformation project and global rollout of M365, HTG was appointed as the partner to launch and deliver the new Managed Sentinel service

The solution

Working with Nettitude’s in-house team HTG implemented Microsoft Sentinel across the business, together with Microsoft Lighthouse to provide the Managed security service provider (MSSP) service capability to integrate and manage multiple client Microsoft Sentinel Solutions across its global network of SOCs.

The highly effective combination of Sentinel and Lighthouse helped Nettitude to implement a best of breed solution within its own operation as well as extending that protection to its client base.

One of the key benefits is flexibility and limitless scalability through cloud, on a ‘pay for what you use’ basis. Microsoft’s figures show Microsoft Sentinel is 48% less expensive and 67% faster to deploy than legacy on-premise SIEMs.

Nettitude realised significant benefits with the deployment of Sentinel and Defender in both efficiency and enhanced protection of our expanding global estate and users, whilst also delivering 40% faster Incident response times from our SOC Operations by leveraging automation and orchestration to deliver faster detection and response of Cyber threats.

Many of Nettitude’s clients are on the acquisition trail, so integration of new companies and their infrastructure was a key concern for the Board. Now that Microsoft Sentinel is in place, any organisation in any region, any time, can be added and deployed in just an hour, simplifying and strengthening the onboarding process.

Success sparks a new joint service:

Based on the success of the transition to Microsoft Sentinel, and the strong partnership between the two companies, HTG and Nettitude have joined forces to provide a Managed Microsoft Sentinel XDR service, providing intelligent cloud security for rapid detection and response with ambitious plans to capitalise on the upward trend for SMEs to move SIEM to the cloud.

Industry reports predict that by 2023, 90% of SIEM solutions will have capabilities that are only delivered via the cloud, such as log storage, analytics, and incident management - a growth of 70%, which represents a massive opportunity.

Around 20% of Nettitude’s existing client base have expressed an interest in migrating to hybrid or full Microsoft Sentinel services over the next few years, and HTG’s prospect stream via the Microsoft Marketplace will also play a key role in exploiting the market.

Through an innovative partnership, both organisations are set to expand their service portfolio and take full advantage of market conditions.

Andy Winters, Global Head of Managed Security Services at Nettitude, said: “It has become increasingly difficult for organisations to protect their data, as technology continues to rapidly evolve and change the working practices of organisations and people, cloud based SIEM solutions are fast taking over traditional on-premise solutions.

Microsoft Sentinel is now a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant, and an excellent fit for our needs, but finding the right partner was crucial to the success of the project. The parameters demanded nothing less than an Advanced Specialist Gold partner with the highest standards.

Having worked with the senior team at HTG we knew they would deliver great service, matching our own ethos and values focused around customer success and value based outcomes.

Microsoft Sentinel gives us a real-time view over not just our own IT estate, but those of our client base too. It pulls data from almost any source, not just cloud environments, eliminating the need to manage multiple pieces of infrastructure components. And thanks to clever use of machine learning, it leverages all the security information and signals it sees across the world, to every customer’s benefit.

As security specialists we are alert to all types of threat, including nation state, and in our live tests Microsoft Sentinel and Defender easily outperformed a large portion of competing SIEM products. The combination of a high level of functionality, analytics and automation and a cost that is significantly lower than an on-premise solution are very real advantages that result in not just the highest level of security, but measurable value too.

It is no surprise that Microsoft Sentinel has rapidly become a market leader, and as a tool delivered by Advanced Specialist Gold Partner HTG and backed by Microsoft’s commitment to invest billions in cyber security, we have complete confidence we are utilising a best of breed product to protect our own organisation, and those of our clients.

HTG’s superior level of expertise and approach to the joint pillars of innovation and customer service echoes our own principles, and the synergy between our two operations means it makes perfect commercial sense to join forces to widen our reach, and deliver a strong portfolio of best of leading products and services to both our client bases.

We were first a customer, and now we’re a very close partner. You could say that we liked it so much, we took it to our own client base.”
